You need to stay healthy in order to do many of the things that you like to do. These pages will help you to learn how you can take care of your daily health needs and to know when it's time to get medical help.

The National Down Syndrome Society has established a very new and exciting website for people with Down syndrome, Club NDSS.

  • Self-advocates can learn how to use the Internet at the Club NDSS Computer Center.
  • You can learn about relationships, proper eating, healthy living, safety, and spirituality in the Live Healthy pages.
  • You can learn about school, volunteerism, music and dance, sports, television, and art and writing in the School and Free Time section.
  • Write and submit your own self-advocacy statement, learn about self-advocacy, self-determination, leadership, issues, and self-advocate statements in the Club NDSS Be a Self-Advocate area.
  • Don't miss the Be Independent pages, where you can read about housing, employment, transition, life skills, money, and safety.
  • The About Chris Burke pages are coming soon.

Not Feeling Well

If you are just not feeling well:

  • Get plenty of rest.
  • Drink lots of fluids to keep your body well hydrated.
  • Make sure what you eat will help your body fight any infections.
  • Keep warm, but not over-hot.
  • Enjoy a nap.
  • Do low-energy activities such as puzzles, board games, drawing, watching television.
  • If you are not sure whether to call the doctor or not, it's best to call just to be sure.
