Ann
Bersani, Executive Director |
| Ann
Bersani serves as our first executive director. She has a master's degree
in business administration and management, financial and leadership experience
in both the paid and volunteer workforces. Ann and her husband have three
children, the youngest of whom has Down syndrome. |

Margaret Froehlke, Incoming Executive Director |
Margaret
Froehlke joins the Denver Adult Down Syndrome Clinic this summer as
the new Executive Director. Margaret’s previous experience includes patient care, non-profit work, corporate Quality Assurance, and advocacy work, with a focus on Inclusion.
Over the
past several years, Margaret served in a leadership capacity in a variety
of community organizations in Michigan including St. Thomas Aquinas
Church, Haslett Public Schools, Lansing Catholic High School, and the
East Lansing Public Library. In addition to her community work, Margaret
served in the Quality Assurance Department at Baxter Healthcare, and
as a registered nurse both at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago
and the Children’s
Hospital of Michigan, as well as worked with the Autism Society of
Michigan. Margaret and her husband Bob are relocating to Denver with
their four children, one of whom has Down syndrome and Autistic Spectrum
Disorder. |

Barry Martin, MD, Medical Director |
| Dr. Martin is Board Certifed in Family Medicine. He has more than 12 years' experience providing primary health care for adults with disabilities, especially developmental disabilities. He is a board member of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry. |

Carolyn
Demong Ajie, LCSW |
Carolyn
earned her Master's degree from the University of Denver's Graduate
School of Social Work with additional clinical training at the Denver
Family Institute. She has been affiliated with Jackson Place Counseling
Group since 1998. Carolyn is an experienced therapist and advocate
for individuals and families facing concerns about disabilities, learning
delays and exceptional learning abilities.
She serves
as the Children's
Division Director for Roundup Fellowship, an agency serving individuals
with developmental disabilities, as well as the clinical social worker
for the Denver Adult Down Syndrome Clinic. She has facilitated several
Parents Encouraging Parents conferences with the Colorado Department
of Education. In summer she works at Adams Camp, continuing the development
of the Leadership program for young adults with disabilities.
Carolyn’s psychotherapy
practice includes adolescents, individuals, couples and families. Her
knowledge and training includes work with recovery from traumas including
death, divorce and domestic violence. Carolyn
recently developed a series of workshops called “The Art of Parenting” to
enable parents to consciously and consistently apply their values in
their family life. |

Heather Luehrs, M. Div., LCSW, Social Worker |
| Heather Luehrs, M. Div., LCSW, is a clinical
social worker who works with individual adults, children and families.
Heather also works at Sewall Child Development Center, which provides an
inclusive early childhood program to children of all abilities, and the
Adobe Center providing mental health services to adults, children and families
with special attention to at-risk and vulnerable populations. Heather is
excited to join the Denver Down Syndrome Clinic. She has worked in the
disability field for 17 years and is the parent of an adult child with
Down Syndrome. |

Scott Quicke, MA LPC |
Scott is a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in counseling and education of people with intellectual disabilities. Scott has worked with people with intellectual disabilities since 1994, and has had a private practice as a psychotherapist since 1999. He has led many groups and classes on a variety of topics including social skills, relationships and sexuality, and anger management. He also facilitates trainings for staff on many topics related to mental health issues in people with intellectual disabilities.
Scott has
a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern
Colorado, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University
of Missouri. He is on the Human Rights Committee for Adams County,
and is a member of the National Association for Dual Diagnosis. |

Dalice
Hertzberg, MSN, APRN-BC, Family Nurse Practitioner |
Dalice
Hertzberg is a Board Certified nurse practitioner with 25-plus years
of experience working with children, youth and adults with disabilities/developmental
disabilities and their families. Dalice
has a particular interest in health care for women with disabilities.
She has many publications to her credit, including a book chapter on
rehabilitation nursing care of individuals with intellectual/developmental
disability.
While working
part-time at the MCPN Potomac Street Health Center, she also is a Senior
Instructor at JFK Partners, the University Center of Excellence in
Developmental Disabilities at the University of Colorado, Denver, Anschutz
Medical Campus. Dalice also provides individual and group consultation
and training on health self care for transitioning youth and adults
with developmental disabilities.
A member
of the American Association for Intellectual and Developmental Disability
(AAIDD), she also belongs to the Colorado Association of Nurses for
Developmental Disability. |
